Fist & Candle 2002
This is a dual screen installation with a dual subject matter. The monitors each displayed a separate video track of the same event. The piece is about the jumping of the action from one screen to another. The performance of punching out the candle was done in real time. With this video I began to look at the use of performance in connection with activities that are not normally associated with art, as a way to go beyond my own perceived boundaries of ability. This theme is continued in future work such as "Mirror".
Shizuko's Mirror 2007
This installation pays tribute to Hideo Nakata's "Ring 2". It takes a scene from the film and recreates the idea using real mirrors in a gallery space. In the film the mirror jumps across the wall by the telekinetic powers of the ghost of the daughter. The woman in the mirror is also a ghost. I used this motif to further explore the use of the dual screen video installation.
